The music lyric was initially written by a well-known composer named “Julia Ward Howe.” in which the music is the first use in the song – John Brown’s Body. The music was written in the year 1861 of November. And finally published in the year 1862 of February in The Atlantic Monthly. 

The ‘Glory, Hallelujah’ song was a folk hymn. Made at the oral hymn convention of camp encounters from the southern United States. And earliest documented in the early year 1800s. From the famous initial variant, ‘Canaan’s Happy Shore,’ the words contains the verses.

At the ceremony of the flag-raising near Boston at Fort Warren in the year 1861 of May 12 on Sunday, the song of Oh! Brothers track and the Glory, Hallelujah, was publicly played for the first time.

William Steffe Biography [Battle Hymn of the Republic Piano sheet music composer]

William Steffe was born in the year 1830 and died in the year 1890, which is about 60 years of age. He was awarded for the written of the musical song for a camp meeting. with a popular traditional song ‘Glory, Hallelujah’ refrain in the year 1856 and also the tune was well known worldwide.

In the era of the American Civil War. this beautiful track was purposely used to build the Union Army marching song known as John Brown’s Body.
